HUR LARRY'S GONNA KEEP THIS PROJECT FROM FOLLIN APART>!!!1
man, i made a joke.
I've started a thread at OC ReMix about doing a tribute arrangement project for Tim Follin, who relatively recently announced that he would no longer compose video game music. If you're a very capable artist in the community and you're interested in having free reign to arrange any Follin track(s) you want for this project, please stop by and let me know what material you'd like to arrange: http://www.ocremix.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=75109 Again, provided you're a capable artist, this is open to anyone in the VGM fan arrangement community. We're hoping to bring on as many fans of Follin's work on board as possible.

Haha... ha. You wird.
Ya know, I absolutely LOVE Tim Follin's work - the Plok soundtrack still stands as one of the best SNES soundtracks ever.
But - it also hits the realm of original game music that is already so good, it's really hard to remix. If it ain't broke, don't fix it after all, and when it's a struggle to even match the original, improving upon it may be a lost cause.
I'll think about it. I have too much to do these days as it is.
If you find any time, Chris, perhaps tackle a C64 or NES soundtrack instead? It could perhaps give you more room for interpretation. In any case, no hard feelings if you end up unavailable to participate, but I'll cross my fingers. Thanks a lot to everyone here, Mustin, The OneUps, po!, Christian Pacaud, ktriton, and Mythril Nazgul who have been able to sign up. I mentioned over at OCR that collabs are encouraged, so if anyone here has some connections and wants to get involved but can't go solo, ask around and see if you can contribute in other ways.
If anyone missed it at the OCR thread, Mustin mentioned that he was taking requests for The OneUps from Plok! (SPC set) over what theme to arrange. I don't know if they already decided, but, if not, Richter had suggested Akrillic and y'all are welcome to throw more ideas out there.

A BIG thank you & congratulations to Ryan8bit for his Solstice arrangement "Catacombs Beneath the Twilight" winning the Dwelling of Duels: Free Month for Feburary 2006, 1st place among 25 entries! Check out the competition for this past month at http://dod.vgmix.com/past/janfeb06/.
Ryan was working on this for the project on the DL with DoD providing a good excuse to get cracking on it, so neither he nor I could say anything about it. But now that the results are public, I can reveal "Catacombs Beneath the Twilight" as the project's first near-complete mix! Ryan mentioned last week that there would be some very minor tweaking done on the track before it was complete for the project, so we're looking forward to it!
For those interested in something slightly different, Follin has 12 original demo tracks up at his site that are all very very good, but about a 1 minute each. If anyone is willing to do extended arrangements of any of these demos, it would be a great additional aspect along with the VGM being arranged. Hopefully, you'll like these demos.
Hey man, I'll do the 'Credits' from the Ecco soundtrack (I think).
Can you hook me up with that title?
Thanks! I really appreciate this.
^pwned!
The credits theme from Ecco: Defender of the Future can be found at http://web8.orcaserver.de/ecco/music/dotf/index.php, along with the rest of the soundtrack.Originally Posted by Haroon Piracha
